Not my dog, per se, but where did I put my yoga downward dog. I would say that I've consistently been inconsistent with my yoga practice since, oh, about 2004! Intentions are there, but it's definitely a "where did I put my Zen" challenge.
This is how it usually goes with me.
ME: I'm definitely getting back into my yoga practice. When I do, I always feel so much better. Centered. Alive. Blood circulating through my muscles.
THE HUSBAND: That's great, babe.
ME: Yes, this time, I'm even going to create a yoga room in the house.
THE HUSBAND: Very cool, babe.
ME: And, this time, I'm sticking to it. Nothing is going to get in the way of my daily practice.
Eight months later after daily practice, finding and loving my downward dog...I stop. I just stop. Consistently inconsistent. Ugh.
THE HUSBAND: What happened to your yoga? You seemed better when you were "doing your yoga."
ME: My dog is on a walk for now.
So how do we live in the day, stay consistent and motivated in anything we do? As of 3 weeks ago, I've narrowed it down to these two simple things as it relates to my yoga.
1) Do not force myself into my practice.
2) My practice can be 5 minutes or 150 minutes -- give yourself the minutes without self-judgment.
Do you love what you're doing or are you doing it because you feel forced? Is it beneficial for you or are you trying to compete with or impress others? Listen to your mind, body and spirit and it will help you find your Zen. Yes, you'll lose it again, but you'll always find new insights about yourself.
Zenitude for today:
Find our Zen. Lose our Zen. Find our Zen. Don't judge.
Now, I'm off to find my golf ball again. Until later, keep finding your Zen.
